Simple tips to help your child learn English at home, a little every day.
Mind maps: one word, many branches
Write a topic in the middle of a page — say, Animals — and draw a branch for each word your child knows: cat, dog, bird. Add a small drawing on every branch and say each word together. Pictures linked to one idea stick far better than a list, and you can add one new branch a day.
Five minutes a day beats an hour a week
Young children learn best in short, regular sessions. Pick the same moment each day, such as after breakfast, and stop while your child still wants more. Baby Says' parent reminders can help you keep the habit.
Turn your home into a picture dictionary
Stick small word cards on things around the house — door, table, cup — and say the word each time you use them. Then play "Touch the…": you say a word, your child runs to find it. Everyday objects become daily practice.
